NOEL Gallagher’s acoustic guitar, played during Oasis’s classic MTV Unplugged special, has sold at auction for an eye-watering £226,800, setting a supersonic new world record.
The guitar, which featured in the 1996 televised performance, was a Takamine FP460SC acoustic owned and autographed by Gallagher, and had attracted huge interest worldwide.

Some might say it’s a crazy price to pay – the highest ever for an Oasis acoustic guitar – but the band is riding the crest of the reunion comeback wave after Noel and Liam buried the hatchet, surprisingly not in each other’s head, after that bitter brotherly feud.

Last month, the Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger movie, documenting the band’s 2025 reunion tour, was released to rave reviews, and the forthcoming Oasis Live ‘27 world tour was announced. There seems to be no stopping them.

Touts were selling tickets for a scandalous £3,000 each after the 38 dates went on sale on Friday, with official prices ranging from £71.50 to £266.60, and immediately sold out.

Other big sellers at the Music Live Auction, run online by Propstore, included Queen icon Freddie Mercury’s notebook containing handwritten working lyrics from the Mr. Bad Guy solo album recording sessions, which sold for £277,200.

Another standout was Michael Jackson’s black and gold military-style jacket, worn at multiple public appearances during the Dangerous and HIStory eras, which sold for £226,800.

The auction continues today at Propstore, with lots including a Noel Gallagher handwritten setlist, Oasis albums, posters and photographs signed by members of the band.
