IT is the latest addition to the Orient Express fleet – but it’s not a train. Nor is it an ocean-going yacht. Built on a more modest scale, the new arrival is as elegant as the canals she cruises.
Luxury hotel Orient Express Venezia has unveiled its own private boat, crafted entirely from mahogany in keeping with the finest traditions of Venetian boatbuilding, to ferry guests to St. Mark’s Square.

The work of master boatbuilder Luigi Giacometti, based on the concepts of architect Aline Asmar d’Amman, it’s a beautiful blend of design, tradition and craftsmanship, both inside and out.
And attention to detail is remarkable.

Each wooden component is cut from a single trunk to preserve the continuity of the grain and rich colour, with smoothly sculpted curves and impeccably lacquered finishes.
The interiors draw on the architecture and décor of Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, the palace that has been transformed into the hotel, with sky-blue upholstered leather and heraldic stained-glass windows.

“The private boat offers guests a privileged way to connect with the city, gliding through its canals and discovering the lagoon from an authentic and personal perspective,” says Orient Express.
“It will also operate a complimentary shuttle service to St. Mark’s Square twice daily, offering a graceful passage to the heart of Venice and an exceptional way to experience the city’s allure from the water.”
