FANGS for the memories! Tourism chiefs in a city dubbed the ‘dead centre’ of England have got their teeth into a new tourist attraction that celebrates Count Dracula’s 100-year-long links with the locality.
It was in 2024 that Derby marked the centenary of Count Dracula’s first-ever appearance on stage at the city’s Grand Theatre, before the iconic production moved to the West End and Broadway, where Bela Lugosi made the part his own.

Now, there’s a brand new Dracula Trail for visitors to follow around the streets of the cathedral city, taking in 20 haunts ranging from the site of the theatre to haunted buildings, pubs, museums and historic houses.
Derby has already been dubbed the ‘dead centre of England’, for having more ghosts than most other cities in the country. More than 2,000 spooks have reportedly been spotted over the years.

The city even hosts an annual Ghost Storytelling Festival, and such is its reputation that the Dracula Trail has more than the ghost of a chance of being wildly successful.
